Account Manager

The Account Manager will represent UCF in a professional manner using a consultative solutions-based
selling approach, deliver exceptional client satisfaction throughout the entire customer experience,
and build strong sustainable business relationships. They are responsible for the entire sales process
and are the main point of contact for all customer engagement. Success will come from utilizing their
resources to develop creative solutions to customer’s business needs while consistently meeting
targeted revenue and profitability goals. They will proactively seek and identify new projects, network
within the business community, and translate this activity into sales opportunities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and submit an annual sales plan, and quarterly account strategies to Director of Sales
  • Meet and exceed monthly and annual sales revenue and contribution margin objectives
  • Consistently network within accounts and the business community to identify new
    opportunities and develop strategic relationships
  • Knowledgeable on the latest workplace research and products, and confidently implements
    creative solutions to complex customer business issues
  • Provides leadership to account team, facilitates regularly scheduled meetings, and aligns team
    resources to exceed customer expectations
  • Develop and maintain ongoing customer relationships at varying levels within an organization:
    executive, human resources, information technology, real estate, facilities and end users
  • Analyze customer budget requirements and effectively present financial alternatives
  • Create and deliver effective professional presentations and proposals
  • Maintain professional knowledge: attend company and vendor sponsored education and
    product workshops, review professional publications, establish business networks, and
    participate in professional societies
  • Promote and advance the UCF Brand within the community and attend all UCF sponsored client
    marketing events

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports to the Director of Sales
  • Does not directly supervise others
  • Works closely with and provides leadership to customer account team(s): coordinators,
    designers, and project managers


  • Maintains accurate and consistently updates forecast and customer information
  • Ensures customer deliverables (quotes, proposals, RFPs, budgets) are delivered timely,
    accurately, and professionally
  • Understands and oversees adherence to customer contracts
  • Obtains signed terms and conditions and credit applications as needed; follows up to be sure
    customer accounts are properly established and updated prior to order entry
  • Maintains communication with the customer regarding any outstanding customer payments or
    project issues


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • 5 plus years in sales with proven results
  • Experience interacting with: the architectural and design community, commercial real estate
    firms, and general contractors is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity and sound judgment in all business
    communication and interactions internally and externally

Knowledge of:

  • Strong organizational, business, and financial acumen
  • Sound practical knowledge of architectural, furniture and technology products, and services from
    Steelcase and other contract furniture manufacturers
  • Familiarity with contract furniture industry, regional economic activity, and marketing concepts
  • Exceptional communication, customer service, and problem resolution skills
  • Fundamental understanding of internal business process
  • Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Business writing skills: proper English, grammar and punctuation
